Why Run Reigate?
WTW has always been a big part of Reigate. As well as being a major employer, so many of us live in the town and the surrounding area. I am therefore really pleased that we are once again sponsoring Run Reigate this year.
I am a big believer in the “healthy body, healthy mind” view of the world. There are so many components that feed into our mental health, and I have found that there has been a definite correlation between periods where I have regularly exercised and happiness. I have also found that running is a great way to take yourself away from everyday problems and clear your head.
Run Reigate combines all of these positive influences in an event that brings together a community, and this year in particular I hope brings together many of us as WTW colleagues. We’re also hoping that many of you will choose to use this event to raise money for our charity partner, Children with Cancer UK, or a charity of your choice.
On that note I would urge everyone to consider signing up to Run Reigate in September, whether you are a regular runner or not. Setting a tangible goal, whether that’s a PB for a half-marathon or simply getting to the end of a 5k, is a tremendous motivator and is very rewarding.
For the parents amongst us, please also talk to your children about joining in. For the last couple of years my kids have been doing Parkruns on Sunday morning (thank you to everyone who volunteers for these). It has been great to see their progress over this time and they all enjoy doing it. The junior races are not long (1.1 mile) and are an achievable target for all.
